Literary Translation competition by Sahitya Akademi

Refer to any national newspaper dated Sunday July 29, and you'd find an advertisement by the Sahitya Akademi. Entries are invited for various categories--- poetry (not more than 60 lines) and short fiction (not more than 2500 words). The occasion is that of completion of 50 years of Sahitya Akademi's bi-monthly English publication.

Interested should send in their entries to,

Editor, Indian Literature, Sahitya Akademi, Rabindra Bhavan, 35 Ferozeshah road, New Delhi 110 001

within one month of publication of this advertisement (which means the last week of August).

The prizes are attractive, and there are plenty of consolation prizes too. The real prize, however is getting an opportunity to translate the gems from out mother tongue/ any other regional language that we know to English!

I wouldn't say, hurry! but, rather would urge the interested to have a serious go at it.
