Operators...

The multiplication operator means, addition multiple times. For instance, 3 * 4 is essentially, 3 added to itself 4 times. Basic stuff.

Division is somewhat complicated. It's not quite other way round (there is of course, the classical question of what does a number divided by zero equal). But it's logical anyway. Therefore, 100 divided by 10 means, divide 100 in ten parts, when one does that one gets ten as the answer.

This is in mathematical sense, of course.

Life on the other hand, has a different set of rules for these operators. The meanings depend upon the operands.

You divide your sorrow among your loved ones, sorrow does get divided.

You divide your joy among your loved ones, joy get multiplied.

That's life!
