Misjudged

Was it a short delivery, a slower one too, and you mis-timed?
Or was it a fuller one, reverse swinging, crashing into the stumps?
Did you misjudge the red cherry that went too far, yet you thought it was in your reach?
Tell me, how many times have you misjudged in life?

On the empty road, did you slow down, but not enough and banged into something?
Or on a crowded road did you misjudge your maneuvering skills?
Oh I would just skip the incident on an unmanned railway crossing!
Tell me, how many times have you misjudged in life?

Was it in the open market? When you took a daring risk?
Or was it in the depression when you thought it couldn't be so stiff?
And then when it came to the share market, you lost thousands, then?
Tell me, how many times have you misjudged in life?

Was it about your competitor? Your arch rival, did you misjudge him?
Or did you misjudge yourself when you thought you were nowhere near him?
Who knows, maybe you thought, well, it was you he couldn't ever catch up with?
Tell me, how many times have you misjudged in life?

Or was it yourself that you misjudged after all?
Your pure self that never knew of betrayal, nor conspiracy?
Did you misjudge how modestly good you thought you were, but were infinitely in reality?
Tell me, how many times have you misjudged in life?
